Testimonials

In 2023, Sunshine College embarked on a transformative partnership with Academy Movement, resulting in the establishment of a Rugby Academy right within our existing school structure. The profound impact of this collaboration on our young students has been nothing short of remarkable.
These benefits of this program go beyond the realm of physical health and have supported our students to grow and develop. Our students in general reside in a Local Government Area with one of the highest rates of obesity and type II diabetes in all of Australia, the introduction of regular exercise through the Rugby Academy has been a game-changer. It’s not merely about sporting prowess; it’s about forging a path to improved overall health and reducing the grave risks associated with lifestyle-related diseases.
Within the Rugby Academy, our students have become exemplars of teamwork, communication, and trust. They have not only honed their athletic abilities but also cultivated the crucial life skill of cooperation and collaboration. These skills are not confined to the rugby field; they have seamlessly seeped into their academic endeavours and their interactions beyond the Rugby Academy.
The tangible outcomes of this partnership have extended well beyond the domain of sports. Attendance rates have improved, and “on-time” to class behaviour has become the norm. Notably, incidents of anti-social behaviour within our schoolyard have seen a remarkable decline, creating a more harmonious learning environment for all.
At Sunshine College, we consider ourselves privileged to be among the select few schools that have the privilege to offer a program of this calibre. Our commitment extends beyond just nurturing physical skills; it encompasses holistic development, academic enrichment, and personal growth.
— Jodie Parsons - Sunshine College Principal

The MSC Academy Movement Rugby Academy has been a critical lever to connect our young people with success on and off the sports field. The high aspiration and expectations that the Academy has, drives a diverse group of students towards excellence by connecting learning and sport in a way that is meaningful to them. Students experience success when there are high expectations and high support to get them there. It is great to see how the Rugby Academy is carving out an innovative space for students to do this at MSC.
— Kathryn Sobey - Melton Secondary College Principal

I’ve seen Academy Movement’s rugby based program provide enduring educational and health outcomes in my community. A 2027 Rugby World Cup in Melbourne will only improve these opportunities and further support our youth into the future
— Gary Maas - State MP for Narre Warren South

I was a disengaged student always getting detentions and with no real focus or inspiration to be a better student or connect to school. The Rugby Academy gave me purpose, drive and a reason to be a better person on and off the field, I now want to make my family community and country proud.
— Leafi Talataina - Ex-Student, Melbourne Rebels and Junior Wallaby Player

As the College Principal of a Victorian government school, our 2023 Academy Movement Rugby Academy has had a powerful impact on the students (100 selected) involved, and just as importantly the broader community in which the Academy serves.
The school values are reinforced by the high standards and expectations for the Academy students and their families directly involved.
— Peter Thatcher - Narre Warren South P-12 College Principal

I’ve seen a lot of programs, but Academy Movement is the best I’ve seen, on and off the field. It has changed the lives of students at Melton Secondary College in my electorate.
— Steve McGhie - State MP for Melton

The Rugby Union Academy at Mernda Central College has proven to be a dynamic force in fostering student engagement. Through its unique blend of physical activity, teamwork, and skill
development, the program has successfully captured the interest and enthusiasm of students across various academic levels. The interactive and hands-on nature of rugby serves as a powerful catalyst for promoting active participation, encouraging students to become not only skilled athletes but also well-rounded individuals.

One standout achievement of the Rugby Union Academy is the notable increase in attendance levels among participating students. The program’s ability to create an inclusive and supportive environment has contributed significantly to this positive trend. Students are not merely attendees; they are active contributors to a community that values teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect.

The program’s success in promoting a sense of belonging has resulted in higher attendance rates, showcasing its effectiveness in engaging students and keeping them committed to the program.
Furthermore, the Rugby Union Academy excels in its structured and organised approach. The meticulous planning and execution by the dedicated coaching staff and support from Jimmy Orange (Academy Movement) to ensure that each session is not only physically challenging but also intellectually stimulating. The emphasis on skill progression, strategic gameplay, and personal development demonstrates a commitment to holistic growth. This structured framework not only enhances the overall experience for participants but also fosters an environment of accountability and achievement.

The Rugby Union Academy at Mernda Central College stands as a shining example of excellence in student engagement, attendance, and organisational structure. I wholeheartedly endorse this program and Jimmy Oranges’ Academy Movement for its outstanding impact on the lives of students, instilling in them the values of teamwork, discipline, and personal growth.
